In the immortal words of Sublime’s Doin’ Time “It’s summertime, and the living’s easy”, but after a year of hard work, switching back to relaxation mode can be a little difficult. Making that switch is important, though. We are here to do our part to make it a little easier. We’ve found plenty of free events around Memphis, and there is sure to be something to suit your interests.

Memphis is world-famous for its music, and summer break is a perfect time to experience some amazing live performances. From May 9 – June 27, The Overton Park Shell will host 18 free, family-friendly concerts.
Music lovers are welcome to bring picnic baskets, beverages, blankets, and lawn chairs, and there are food and beverage options available in a concession concourse. Fido is welcome to enjoy the music, too. Leashed dogs are welcome in the designated Puppy Bar.

Maybe concerts aren’t really your thing, and you’re more of a movie buff. Well, Overton Square courtyard could be the place for you.
On Thursday nights, movie-lovers are invited to enjoy a free screening. With a lineup that includes films like Wicked, Avengers, and Zootopia, there is sure to be something to satisfy any movie taste. Overton Square also has no shortage of amazing restaurants, so you could enjoy dinner and a movie.

Concerts and movies are great, but what if you’re in the mood for something a little more eclectic? South Memphis Trolley night might be more your speed.
On the last Friday of every month, South Main is host to the longest-running party in Memphis. Shops and galleries stay open late, there are free snacks and drinks, and there is live music. Shopping, snacks, and music. What’s not to love?
