Four Short Reflections for the Future Graduates of Spring 2026

  1. Take a moment to acknowledge the significance of what was

As you near the finish line, looking back over your university years is probably second nature. Stepping out, leaving the nest, and pursuing higher education has brought you this far. You made a decision for the betterment of your future. That was the first step. You dared to make new connections, take on new challenges, and become accustomed to a new environment. Cheers to you!

  1. Allow others to celebrate you

Sometimes it’s not the easiest thing to finally take a deep breath and rest. You’ve given it your all. Others have seen your efforts. Let them clap for you. Let them shower you with affection and accolades. And even spoil you with a gift or two. You deserve it.

  1. Pat yourself on the back

Look at yourself in the mirror. You have grit. You have determination. You have willpower, and soon, you’ll have a degree! It takes a measure of strength to reach the aptitudes that you have reached, and you should be proud. Every time that you think of your nearing graduation date, beam in pride as a badge of honor. You did that!

  1. Envision the unlimited possibilities ahead

What company will I work for? Am I the right person for the job? Did I major in the right field? All of these questions may at some point come to your mind. Know that you have the power and ability to steer the vessel of your own ship and navigate the various terrains that you may face as you enter your industry. Rest assured that you have come a long way and will continue to as you put one foot in front of the other. The world is your canvas. Do what you will! Cheers to your future!
