'Tis the winter season in the fashion world, and as Christmas approaches, brands are starting to unveil their flashy new holiday campaigns. We saw Prada with their Road-trip campaign, featuring family warmth and beautifully lit up environments, as well as Dolce & Gabbana’s sparkly campaign, featuring their recognizable flair. So, to prepare for the winter season, here are seven top trends for this holiday season that we saw on and off the runway.

Fur is back, but not how you think. With fur making a comeback, sustainability awareness on the rise, people are wondering how to buy it ethically, because let’s be honest, is faux fur, which is made of synthetic plastic textiles, a better option? Not really. If you want to spice up your closet and buy a fur coat, the best way to do it is to buy a vintage one, because you’re buying something that doesn’t require new production. And with thousands of vintage furs out there, that have already been made years ago, there’s plenty of fur to choose from without harming more animals, or buying one made from synthetic textiles.

Boots have always made an impact in fashion; they’re an essential part of the winter closet. As the cold approaches, they keep you warm while being stylish and elegant, elevating any outfit. Plus, the best part is there are so many different kinds of boots for any style, from Ralph Lauren’s sleek black ankle and knee-high boots, to Louis Vuitton’s pointed boots with a metallic toe seen on the Fall 2025 ready-to-wear runway, to Isabel Marant’s and Gianvito Rossi heeled boot designs.

If you want a perfect item to pair with your new boots, something to make your outfit stand out even more, tights are an ideal choice. But not the usual ones that are black and see-through. Think colorful, bold funky tights that bring personality to your outfits and make any all-black outfit more interesting with a vibrant pop of color or patterns, which brings us on to the next item.

Tartan, or plaid, a pattern that originated from Scottish culture, has always been a staple throughout history, whether in royalty, history, culture or punk movements. Tartan was greatly used and especially popularized by legendary designer and visionary Vivienne Westwood in countless collections as one of her identities, including the iconic scene when supermodel Kate Moss walked the Fall 1993 runway in Paris for Vivienne Westwood’s showcasing a tartan dress and headpiece carrying a bouquet of flowers. But even today, tartan continues to make a show and remains a staple and favorite for the winter and fall seasons.

Another standout featured in the Fall 2025 ready-to-wear collections is the “antisocial jacket”, a coat or trench with a high collar that covers or almost covers part of the face, hence the name, “antisocial”, and from one type of jacket to another we have…

The trench coat. Recently, the trench coat has been gaining traction globally even in places where it hasn’t always been a staple. But apart from its recent increase in popularity, calling it a “micro-trend”, or a “trend” in general seems wrong. The trench coat has always been a staple in culture and history since before the First World War, where it was developed by the British Army and used in trenches, which is where the name “trench” came from. Later on, it became popularized in fashion and became a timeless essential in any wardrobe, especially in Europe, where it has always been a favorite.
