The Memphis Grizzlies are really the NXT GEN
With playoff season right around the corner, it’s no surprise that every NBA team is putting up a fight to be in the top 8 of their conference. However, the Memphis Grizzlies are holding true to their past slogan, “Grit and Grind,” while adhering to the new motto of the team, “GRZ NXT GEN.”
The Memphis Grizzlies have faced a complete turn-around within the last year. After trading franchise superstars Mike Conley (Jazz) and Marc Gasol (Raptors), the fanbase was disappointed and left wondering what the future held for the Grizzlies. However, Jaren Jackson Jr., in his sophomore season, has held the ground for the team alongside rookies Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke. This legendary trio, alongside powerhouses Jonas Valanciunas, Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow and Dillon Brooks, and the rest of the team, have created a new generation of gritting and grinding.
Ja Morant alone has had a record-breaking rookie season. Averaging almost 18 points per game, this Murray State alum and fan favorite has really changed the reputation of the Grizzlies. Morant has also been awarded the NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month for November, December and January, and is expected to win Rookie of the Year.

As of March 2020, the Grizzlies are sitting at the 8th seed of the Western Conference, which means they are contenders for the playoffs. This would be the first time the
Grizzlies have made the playoffs in two seasons. There are still more than 20 games left in the season, but with the fight that these players have had thus far, playoffs might be what’s coming next.
